Results of LoTi Assessment Posted by Hello

This was simply an INTENSE work day.  A LOT of work from previous days was finished up,  some new activities were created, and organizational tasks continue with one group meeting with school administration and contacting other schools.

On Monday everyone will provide me with links to all of the material made during the two weeks and I'll create a master index.

We also took the LoTi assessment survey.  They say a picture is worth a thousand words.  So the pictures that precede this entry are worth 4000.  They speak for themselves.  The only explanation needed is that the results are for the teachers who took it last year and this year.  The 5th grade teachers are not yet represented.  In the few instances where there is no blue bar visible, it is because the score was zero for that item that year.

I know EVERYONE is looking forward to a well deserved rest this weekend and will be coming in charged up on Monday, ready to finish in another intense wrap up day.

As busy as the days were in the past entry, the days that have transpired have been even more exhausting. We've done Hyperstudio, Danas, iMovie, and a lot of work of the Bullies to Buddies project. Mentoring is rampant throughout the room. I'm mentoring everyone, and the third and fourth graders are mentoring the fifth graders in between, and even each other.

There has been a tremendous amount of work posted to the site. Plans are shaping up for a kickoff assembly for B2B. A PowerPoint is being developed for the assembly and Back to School Night. A survey is being developed to give to the students the first week of school to gather data about the attitudes toward bullying and the nature of the bulling problem in MLK. Questions are being developed to be used in a video interview of students during the first week of school.

I made contact with the Kia Kaha program in New Zealand and they are sending us their entire K-12 curriculum that details the whole school approach to dealing with school violence (4 boxes).

Tomorrow we hope to have some of the books we will be using with students. We'll use the books to develop other activities for the project.

Jen and Monica are putting the StarW Tech Camp program together. Invitations to students are going out and things will get underway on July 20. The objective is to develop a core groups of student mentors to work with student. They will be developing an iMovie about MLK.

I would be lying is I said I wasn't looking forward to the weekend. I'm exhausted, but it has been well worth the effort. We have accomplished a great deal.
