Whew! I can breathe again. The past few weeks have been insane. I haven't had a chance to do much of anything except take care of business. It was just one of those periods where there weren't enough hours in the day to get everything done and journal writing was something that fell by the wayside.
I did get a message or two out the group and finished out the crazy period today with the last of three Saturday workshops.
While at My Classroom to Yours, Brook and Jen saw Tom Dunn's presentation on Virtual Communities. They were excited about it. I make contact with Tom and thanks to Marilyn we were able to bring him in to present to the entire group and plan for a technology summer camp that we will run for students.
The teachers were excited about the possibilities and Tom gave us a lot of great ideas. Tom used Windows equipment, but we will be using Macs. I think some of the teachers are concerned about having to make the switch, but it was good to hear Tom say that we will find it 10 times easier with iMovie and Macs.
Marilyn lent me an iMac earlier in the week and I have been playing with it a little. I took some video today and will dump the raw footage on to a CD for us to possibly use as practice material for our summer workshops.
After lunch, teachers went to work on their web pages using Contribute. It was great to see the 3rd and 4th grade teachers mentoring the 5th grade teachers and guiding them through the process of creating pages for their biographies and journals.
While we were working on the web pages, something happened that was both very funny and very disturbing. I'll write about it in a separate post just to keep this from getting too long.
