Hi Ladies,

I'll be down on Wed & Thurs of this week to make up for the missed snow day last week. I also want to give you a head up, because I won't be in the week of Feb. 2. I'm off to Austin for a conference.

I'll be available to do some demo lessons about Einstein's puzzle for those of you who want it. I'll use the projector and I have paper versions that the students can use in small groups at their desks. Since I'm going to be in over two days, I can do it one class at a time. It will be better in small numbers. If you know that you want me to do the lesson and you have a time, let me know. If you aren't sure, you can decide and let me know when I come in.

If any of you are going to be doing any kind of work aimed at ASK4 preparation, please let me know. I'd like to sit in and observe to see how we might be able to use technology to assist in the process. That most likely wouldn't be for this year, but it would give up plenty of time to develop something for next year.

I got an e-mail from Jamie Saponaro about the Stafford teachers. I gave her the StarW e-mail addresses for Janine, Melissa, and Brook. Hopefully you should be hearing something soon about the poetry and book review projects.

I see the journal writing is moving ahead nicely. I have a housekeeping hint for you. It appears that instead of replying to messages, some students are starting new topics. Remind students that they have to click on the blue folders to open them and see the messages. Then they can use the Reply button at the bottom of the messages to write their messages.

As far as the stray topics go, it you don't need or want them cluttering up the space, as moderators, you have the ability to delete them. When you go into a student's journal, at the top of the page you see Moderator's Options and you have three choices. One of them is Delete Topics. If you click on it, you'll get a list of topics. You just put a check next to the ones you want to trash and click the Delete button.

See you Wed.
