Technology Uses

OII feels technology should be used in the curriculum to enable students to participate in learning experiences which would be very difficult or impossible to provide had the technology not been used.   The simplified chart below, shows the three basic levels of technology integration in schools. By careful use of assessment instruments you can determine your system's readiness to move toward curriculum which  stresses the third level.

Allowed when "real work" is done

Initiated by teachers and their assignments

Initiated by students as well as teachers

Staff tends to learn on their own

Staff development increases but participation and support is viewed as optional

Sustained and expanded staff development supports expectation all staff have essential technology skills
