hits
When a search engine returns a list of items retrieved, each item is called a hit.

.hqx
If you are a Windows user, don't bother  downloading files that end in .hqx, because they are Mac files that have been compressed for downloading. You need a program such as Unstiffit or Binhex 5.0 to decompress it.

HTML
Even though it stands for Hyper  Text Markup Language, it really isn't a computer language. It is much easier to learn than a language. HTML is used to create web pages.  Placing tags before and after words create the formatting such as bold, headlines, and hyperlinks.

HTTP
HyperText Transfer Protocol is the way agreed upon method of transfering and displaying web pages. Using http:// before a URL tells the web browser that the address specified is a web page and it handles it as  such.

hyperlink
A hyperlink is a word or graphic, that when clicked on, causes something to happen. Usually it will jump you to another document or another location on the same document. It could also play a  sound file, or cause any number of other things to happen. Hyperlinks are usually blue and underlined before they are clicked on and purple after they have been clicked on. However, the person who creates the page may decide to use other  colors.
